Lufthansa has decided to increase its service from four flights a week to a daily service from Bahrain to Frankfurt.
The sources informed that the service will be effective from September 22.
The sources further informed that four of the flights will be non-stop operations to Frankfurt, while the three additional services will function with a short intermediate stop in Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
All flights provide onward connections to Lufthansa destinations in Germany and European cities in Lufthansa's intercontinental network.
As per sources, the Bahrain-Dammam service which will be effective from October 6, will be operated with a new Boeing 737-800 Intercontinental. The aircraft, which is operated by PrivateAir, will be equipped with 32 long haul business class seats and 60 economy class seats
While commenting about the introduction of new service, Mr. Schaher Murad, Regional Manager for Bahrain and the eastern province of Saudi Arabia stated, "The 737-800 Intercontinental to be operated on our Bahrain-Frankfurt route allows us to increase the number of flights on the route by 75 per cent, even in today's adverse overall economic environment."
As per media reports, German Aviation major Lufthansa has steadily increased its presence in the Gulf region over the course of the past four years.
