According to researchers from Oxford, fewer behavior problems will be developed by kids who are breast fed for at least four months or more as compared to kids who are given formula milk.
The way breast milk is formed is the reason for this, according to the study that was based on about 10,000 mothers and their babies.
There is also a better bonding between a baby and a mother by breastfeeding.
There have been studies that have associated breastfeeding to lower risk of obesity in later life among children when they grow up and also possibility of infection is also less among breastfed babies.
A study known as the Millennium Cohort Study was carried out in which about 10,037 mothers and their babies were involved and their feeding habits were followed.
Children’s behavior related to activities like stealing, lying, being restless and clinginess was seen for which mothers were asked to assess their kids up to the age of five years.
The percentage of children having behavior problems who were breastfed was six per cent and this percentage of formula fed babies was about 16 per cent.
Maria Quigley of Oxford University said, “Our results provide even more evidence for the benefits of breastfeeding. Breast milk contained large quantities of a particular type of fatty acid, as well as growth factors and hormones, which were important for the development of the brain and nervous system.”
