The US Grocery Operator Safeway Inc. warned people about the salmonella contamination in the variety of salads of grape tomatoes at some western US grocery stores.
Products with the grape tomatoes are sold in some stores of Arizona, Oregon, California, Nevada, Washington, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and Utah.
Salmonella is a rod shaped bacteria, which causes food poisoning and serious fatal infection. The infection is easily caught by kids and people with weaker immune system. People who get infected with Salmonella, they have to face disease such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. While in some cases, Salmonella enters into blood stream and causes serious complications.
However, no infection have been reported yet, but still the growers urged people to check the chef salad, orzo salad, Greek salad, mozzarella salad and Cobb salad. People have also asked to check the seafood salad and chicken salad.
Meanwhile, Six L’s of Immokalee, Fla., the tomato grower found the sample of salads tested positive for salmonella. Some of the packages were sent to countries such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia and Canada on April 11.
