THE Alliance of Mayors Initiative for Community Action on AIDS at Local Level will acknowledge the International Candlelight Memorial service, which will commence from the 9th to 15th of May.
According to reports, it’s one of the oldest mobilization campaign for AIDS and HIV awareness held every year, which is done in order to honor those who lost their kin to the virus, affected by it and also to educate the public about AIDS as well as influencing local and policy makers to about its general prevention care and treatment.
The Candlelight Memorial also creates a platform for communities to join the coalition of AIDS activist all over the world.
AMICAALL is said to partake in the memorial this year, as they have always done in the past years, with different goals and themes from the remembrance of victims or educating the public on AIDS.
Report has it that the global theme of this year, is “touching lives” and the candlelight possession signifies souls lost to AIDS, also the activities during the memorial period are going to be designed to have a lasting effect on the lives on those affected by the disease.
