According to health experts in Australia, the people who opt for weight loss surgeries due to clinical reasons for obesity would eventually get back the return for the same. The report of the health economists is of the view that the initial cost of the weight loss surgery can be incurred back in a span of 3.5 years in all.
This vital information has been given to the Royal Australian College of Surgeons 2011 Annual Scientific Congress in Adelaide.
The research team was led by the firm Johnson and Johnson that is responsible for the manufacture of surgical equipment that is used in surgery done for weight loss. The research was an essential eye-opener for many.
Lynne Pezzullo, who is the lead partner of the Social Policy Group and the Deloitte Health Economics is of the view that while calculating the costs for a weight loss surgery, people often tend to overlook the personal benefits that may be sought with the help of this surgery.
He further added that weight -loss surgery might be able to benefit a person in more ways than one. Besides weight-loss, it might safeguard a person from diabetes, arthritis and many others.
"When patients are thinking about weight-loss surgery they also need to think about how they can save on the other side of the equation”, he said.
