A 30-year-old married businesswoman, Stacy gave birth to twins, after three miscarriages, including one set of twins. Stacy and her husband James, 34, were going though the agony of miscarriage and had lost hope to be able to give birth to kids.
Stacy was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries after she miscarried in 2007. She was referred by the doctors to undergo IVF treatments which also failed. Stacy’s tests revealed that her immune system had high levels of natural killer cells which attack embryos in the womb.
Finally, she took up an experimental fertility treatment typically used to treat malnutrition. The treatment involved a combination of natural fats made up from egg yolks and soya oil. Doctors believe that this intralipid liquid a calorie-rich potion normally used in tube-feeding sick patients could help the women in getting pregnant and delivering a healthy child.
The treatment proved beneficial for Stacy and she gave birth to Harry and Libby in January. Stacy and James are extremely delighted to have twins. Stacy said that, “I’ve hardly slept for the 13 weeks since they were born but I’m not complaining, they have been the happiest weeks of our lives”.
