Herbal Medications Banned in Europe

Herbal Medications Banned in EuropeThe new European Union regulation has taken off hundreds of herbal medicines from the market in order to protect its citizens from the side-effects. Under new rules, only licensed, prescribed and registered herbal medicines will be sold in the market. However, many of herbal remedy makers and practitioners are scared that the ban on some medications will shatter them.

The new European Union regulations came in effect after the clash of remedies with conventional drugs. With the growing concern of health professionals about the damaging side-effects of remedies these new rules came in effect.

Under new rules, MHRA (Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) will approve the medicines before going to the market. Remedy makers will have to prove the safety and efficacy of their medication.

According to a study at UK, it was disclosed that nearly one quarter of adult population has purchased OTC herbal medicines from last 2 years.

Experts said that the dosage of herbal remedies should be taken carefully. Person has to take care about the interaction with other drugs because if a person is taking any other drug as well, it can give damaging side-effects.
