Seven yr old bitten by adder, rushed to hospital

Matthew-LakeOn a family day out, a venomous snake bit a schoolboy, following which he was taken to the hospital.

An adder bite made Connor Smith’s fingers swollen and his skin turned blue black. Doctors at University Hospital of North Tees treated the boy with anti-venom drugs as the poison started going to the rest of his arm.

The schoolboy is from Irvine Road, Hartlepool and is just seven year old. When the incident happened, the family was having an outing at the popular countryside spot, Sheep Wash, in Osmotherley, North Yorkshire.

The boy was accompanied by his 11-year-old cousin Matthew Lake. This cousin saw the snake that had the thickness of a ball-point pen and had a length of about 10 inches and was spotted near a stream.

Everyone thought that the snake was harmless taking it to be a grass snake and they lifted the snake up for putting it in a small box that the kids found.

The snake had brown patches on it and it reared up suddenly after about 15 minutes and went towards Mathew first and his middle finger was bitten. After this it was Connor’s turn and the snake bit his right-hand index finger.
