It was stated by US researchers that when babies are about 12 months old, autism can be detected by a five-minute screening test.

Autism is something that starts happening in childhood and remains even in adulthood and this developmental disorder is not developed until youngsters become a little older.

Study author Karen Pierce of the University of California, San Diego, stated that due to this test, treatment can be given much earlier to children if autism is detected on time.

In infants, autism can be detected by using a simple screening tool.

The NHS states that in the UK alone, autism, a complex and mysterious brain disorder, strikes one in 100 children. Boys are affected more than girls.

In autism, understanding behavior of other people is not possible, social interaction and communication is difficult.

Autism is diagnosed when a child becomes three or so. It is stated that autism can be managed better if it is detected on time as timely treatment can be given.

Professor Pierce said, “There is extensive evidence that early therapy can have a positive impact on the developing brain.”
