In order to enable patients to live a normal life and lessen the burdens on the health system, Asthma New Zealand endeavors to change the mentality of asthma patients who believe they have their asthma under control.
As a part of the organization awareness week, it has called upon people with asthma to participate in a simple 5 questions online test, where they can get useful insights, to verify if they are managing their asthma appropriately.
Also, by taking the online test, they can work with health professionals for a more effective asthma control.
The Executive Director of Asthma New Zealand, Gerry Hanna, emphasized that those who use their reliever more than twice a week, should take the test as it entailed that their asthma were not managed properly.
On World Asthma Day, Asthma New Zealand will be having it’s Open Day on the 3rd of May 2011, to raise awareness for poor asthma control in the country and promote its free services.
Nurse educators, according to reports, will be there to carryout Asthma Control Tests and answer any questions about asthma, along with 3 members of the Vodafone Warriors, who will assist with other activities on that day.
