A recent research conducted by the researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center has found that the antidepressants may not properly cure the symptoms of depression. The researchers have claimed that the symptoms of depression may continue even after the use of antidepressants.
The symptoms of depression include: sadness, suicidal thoughts, and changes in sleep patterns, appetite, weight, concentration, outlook and energy.
Patients using antidepressant medications sometimes continue to experience the symptoms of depression like insomnia, sadness and decreased concentration.
Shawn McClintock, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Lead Author of the analysis says that even the if antidepressants work well on the body but still miss to cure some of the symptoms of the disorder.
The results of the study were based on the evaluation of more than 4,000 patients with major depressive disorder from clinics across the nation. All of these participants had at least, 3-13 symptoms of depression and 75% of them had five symptoms or more.
The results of the study reveal that even after the treatment the participant experienced the emergence of suicidal thoughts. The antidepressants failed to cure many other symptoms of the participants, which were different in all of them.
