Heart Smart Program to be Held for the Maryland

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), in partnership with six leading cardiovascular professional and patient organizations, has announced that a free heart health event for patients with heart disease and their families will be held at Maryland. The event will be called “Heart Smarts: What Every Heart Patient Should Know” and will be focused upon spreading awareness among people regarding heart problems and ways to keep one’s heart health.

The event will be hosted by distinguished cardiologists and heart attack survivors, including local news personalities Jennifer Donelan and C. Bruce Johnson. The event is a part of SCI’s “Know What Counts” program, which is a series of regional events designed to inform the public about cardiovascular and health care issues.

The program will be held on 7th of May at the Hilton Baltimore from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The event will include free noninvasive blood pressure and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) which will be provided by the University of Maryland Medical Centre.

It has come to light that goal of the event is to ensure that Marylanders who are impacted by heart disease recognize and understand how to be their best health advocates and evaluate whether they are receiving quality cardiovascular care. It is believed that the event will help patients and the public to take a more active role in their heart health, such as making decisions with their cardiologists about the best treatment plan for them.
