Figures revealed by the government have shown that benefit for addiction to drugs and alcohol and for obesity is being taken by over 80,000 people.
For about a decade, the number of people who have been on IB is about 660 obese people. For about a decade, on the payouts the number of alcoholics is 12,880 and 9,200 drug addicts have been dependent.
People were getting trapped more in welfare dependency and addiction due to the benefit system, according to employment minister Chris Grayling.
About 81,760 incapacity benefit claimants do not seem to make any attempt to become better because they are obese, drugs affect about 1,830 and alcohol has been impacting about 42,360.
For about 10 years, IB is being claimed by about 660 obese people.
Grayling said, “It's not fair on anyone for this situation to continue. Far from being the safety net it should be, the benefits system has trapped thousands of people in a cycle of addiction and welfare dependency with no prospect of getting back to work.”
It clearly shows that IB is not being given to people who deserve.
