At just five, Jack Ives looks Scarlet Dawson’s elder brother due to their height but in fact they are both five years old.
UK’s tallest five year old is Jack who stands at 4 ft 2 inches. Boys who are about 10 years of age stand at this height and even now there is no end to his height growing. It is being suspected that his height will be about seven feet and five inches by the time he becomes an adult.
Jack suffers from Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome that affects about 64 people in the UK and this syndrome is a rare disorder and cannot be cured. Other aspects of this syndrome are an enlarged tongue which creates breathing and eating difficulties.
His mother Hayley said, “We were stunned when doctors told us. None of our other children has it. Jack has been in and out of hospital most of his life. He is very brave.”
Jack has already undergone about 15 operations so far and Hayley stated that her son is believed to have the most extreme symptoms. All that Jack’s family is now concerned about is a trip to Denver, Colorado, to see Dr Bruce Beckwith for which £2,000 are needed as Beckwith had identified this condition.
There is no cause that has been known to cause this syndrome.
