Cancer Charities: Official Partner of London Marathon 2012

Cancer Charities: Official Partner of London Marathon 2012For the first time, the London Marathon 2012 will have two organizations as official charity partners. These organizations are Breast Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer Charity.

Breast Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer Charity have been named as the official charity partners for the event scheduled for next year.

The money raised by the event would go directly for the treatment for the people suffering from breast or prostate cancer.

These two charities would be getting 250 gold bond places and an increased brand profile on the official website of this event.

According to the spokesperson of the Prostate Cancer Charity, the charity is hoping to raise £1m from this event.

A report from Virgin Money confirmed that this has been the first time that the two charitable organizations are sharing the same platform.

"We liked the proposal because it was creative – it included men and women and they will be using the money to fund sport", he said. "All of those factors together made it seem like a proposal we wanted to take forward".

The Children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent was the charity partner for 2010, and has raised more than £2m from the event. Around 700 participants were part of this successful marathon.
