Milk can help women ward off AMD

drinking-milkResearchers have stated that eye diseases that are developed later in life can be warded off by drinking milk among women.

The most common cause of blindness is age-related macular degeneration, AMD, and according to a study, due to consumption of vitamin D, the chances of developing AMD was two-thirds less.

AMD has no preventative treatment and every year around 200,000 Britons get AMD. Reports state that the damage can be managed with laser surgery and drugs.

Among people who turn more than 50 years of age, sight loss happens mostly due to the central vision getting affected and this vision is responsible for enabling a person to read, recognize faces and drive.

There was a huge investigation that involved about 1313 women by American researchers and it was for diseases that were related to eye.

There was a decreased risk of early AMD in women who were less than 75 years of age and this decrease was linked to vitamin D blood levels and consumption of the vitamin from food sources and supplements.

As compared to women who had the lowest vitamin D intake, the chances of developing the eye-related disease were less among women who had a high vitamin D intake.
