Funds for medicines doubled in UAE

A statement has stated that funds for buying medicines this year have been doubled to Dh300 and last year they were Dh150 by the Ministry of Health.

When the federal government orders instructions, Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, medicines will be manufactured as the ministry is in contact with pharmaceutical companies.

He has stated that in an attempt to make drugs available at every government medical facility, instructions have been given to the officials by him.

The minister said, “We immediately began contracting with the specified manufacturers to provide medicines to the medical zones, hospitals and health facilities. The medicines are now available at all the hospitals and health centres for all diseases.”

There was a meeting regarding this issue between directors of all medical zones and the Minister and reports state that Dh17 million were spent for purchasing drugs meant for diseases that are chronic.

The minister also added that there will be an end to problems related to medical practices with the completion of Wareed system. There will be more efficiency and accuracy when it comes to the medical procedures as they will be done through an automated system.
