Solomon Island’s Capital is on Water Warnings

Solomon Island’s Capital is on Water WarningsWater warnings have been issued by the health authorities in Solomon Islands to the residents in the capital city of Honiara to boil their drinking water.

The national broadcaster, SIBC has informed the resident about the new report, which has revealed that the city water supply was highly contaminated with faecal matter as high human waste was found in the water supply to the capital.

According to the report, which was released by the City Council's Health Division last month, bacteria is found in almost 20 out of 22 water samples that were taken from water sources across Honiara in a field survey that was done to investigate if drinking water supplied to the city was safe to drink or no and unfortunately the samples shown a negative result. But the report could not determine whether the faecal matter was a result of human waste or animal waste.

Upon seeing such harmful results of the report, the Honiara City Council has immediately advised the capital and the entire communities in the region of Honiara to boil their drinking water and store it safely enabling them to save themselves from the contamination.
