450 Staff Members to Lose Jobs at Royal Free Hospital

450 Staff Members to Lose Jobs at Royal Free HospitalIn a bid to cut the expenses and to maximize the savings, the bosses at the Royal Free Hospital have announced for axing some 450 posts in the near future.

With this, the authorities expect to save £40 million on a yearly basis.

The Chief Executive at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, David Sloman stated, “The Royal Free is not immune to the financial pressures facing the NHS. All hospitals are being asked to contribute to the 20% productivity improvement needed by the NHS”.

He said that the hospital also hopes to save an additional of £5 million after making reductions in the number of agency staff employed by the trust.

The hospital that has nearly 5,500 employees working for it at present will cut 280 posts in clinical and non-clinical departments.

Sloman added that the hospital authorities will not save the expenses but will also make sure that the standards of quality are not compromised at any cost.

Contradicting the same, Dr. Peter Carter who serves as a Chief Executive at the Royal College of Nursing stated that it is very baffling that a health care provider is shedding some 450 posts in one go and is still assuring for the quality of service in the patient care.
