Taking the drug aspirin could have additional benefits other than easing everyday aches and pains. A new study has found that use of aspirin could also reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Researchers of the study evaluated 904 people who were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 1,223 healthy adults of age 55 years or older. The results found that people who regularly took aspirin were at a lower risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
The study has also revealed that people, who used aspirin at least once a day for a month, had a 29% lower risk of cancer compared with those who did not take aspirin regularly. Aspirin is also known to reduce the risk of heart diseases. People who took low-dose of aspirin to prevent heart problems were at a 35% lower risk of pancreatic cancer.
In addition to the finding, the researchers have suggested that use of aspirin could not be beneficial for everyone. Further investigations into the findings are required to recommend the drug.
People must take the advice of their doctors before taking any rug because most of them have serious side effects.
