New Parking Place for Students of Marsh Gibbon

Marsh-Gibbon-Primary-SchoolMarsh Gibbon Primary School has allotted a parking place to students for their bikes and scooters. The school’s travel plan group has recommended the proposal, in order to boost youngsters to walk or cycle. Earlier there was no parking place in the school and cycles were propped against a wall.

The school decided to take up the challenge and purchased buy cycle racks, but soon they ran out of space.

The Head teacher, Louise Metherill said that 80% which is £20,000 has been funded by Sustrans.

Louise said that they would not have been able to spend such a huge amount of money on a shelter. It has been a great benefit, as maximum children are cycling now.

She said, “Parents of children who came to the school from other villages and had to drive, were parking away from the school so youngsters could cycle or use scooters”.

She further added that kids who cycle or walk can also collect stamps to get free vouchers for some entertaining activities, which is an added incentive for them. This activity encourages them to walk or cycle to school.

She said that cycling helps in improving health, and boost up confidence among kids.
