Maximum happiness arrives at 80 years of age

Maximum happinessA new study has stated that happiness content is seen more among old people as compared to the young lot and it is the maximum when a human being reaches the age of 80 years.

The recent study, led by Professor Lewis Wolpert at University College London, found that the level of happiness was average among those who were under 30 years of age and this level kept on decreasing as they grew older because of the responsibilities they were handling.

For this study about 350,000 people were surveyed by the researchers.

The researchers added that after one turned mid-40, happiness started to come back and when a person became 70s and 80s, the level of happiness was the maximum.

Wolpert said, “From the mid-forties, people tend to become ever more cheerful and optimistic, perhaps reaching a maximum in their late seventies or eighties.”

He added that happiness was seen to be directly linked with fewer responsibilities and people after reaching a certain age were happier because their responsibilities declined and they could spend more time in doing something that they enjoyed.
