Humanitarian organizations condemn killing of innocent Libyans

Delegates representing 17 national organizations expressed their views about ongoing trouble in Libya and asked for the immediate need of strengthening relief operations in Libya and in the Libyan-Tunisian borders.

The delegates gathered at the 7th MENA Conference International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) expressed disappointment over widespread killings of innocent civilians by Gaddafi’s supporters and western air strikes.

Dr Tahir Al Shaniti, Secretary General of the Tunisian Red Crescent hailed the UAE’s decision of offering all kind of help to the displaced people. He said that more than 165,000 refugees from different countries are getting humanitarian and medical services from the country’s authorities.

Dr Abdel Karim Binsiali Mena Zone Director of the Federation Secretariat, added, “The conference will discuss important issues that transcend national and regional boundaries and carry implications within the wider global context.”

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (UAE RCA), asked for the need to develop more comprehensive humanitarian and relief strategies.
