At present maximum Middle East superyacht owners are doing their business for bigger vessels. This is because the industry emerges from the global meltdown.
It has been confirmed by the leading industry players in Abu Dhabi for the 3rd Abu Dhabi Yacht Show that there is a continual shifting movement towards larger yachts within the industry, with the Middle East. It is one of the most courted buyer markets.
According to Erwin Bamps, COO of UAE-based shipyard Gulf Craft, the worldwide order book for 2011 which indicated the greatest demand for superyachts, was in the 70-100ft category. There was an increase of 34 % in the numbers of orders since the year 2007.
In the larger yacht category the orders are 25 percent as compared to 2009. The smaller yachts are seen increasingly larger sized vessels in the region. It has stepped to moving from 40 footers up to 50 to 70 footers as stated by Bamps.
Constantinos Constantinou, President & CEO, Art Marine has also agreed that bigger yachts are more coveted.
