Junk food during pregnancy can pass addiction to children

Junk-food-during-pregnancyIf you do not want your child to binge on junk food, then keep a check on your junk food intake while you are carrying your child.

A new study has stated that brains of unborn children can be rewired and this will make them less capable of resisting junk food after they are born and this means that pregnant mums should avoid a diet high in sugar and fat.

The research has stated that it can be explained why some people are more fond of junk food as compared to others.

Rats were taken for the study and they were divided into two groups, these rats were tested during pregnancy and lactation.

One group was given rat feed and another was made to binge on food rich in fat and sugar that human beings consume.

Baby rats were made to chose their diet after they weaned off and it was seen that rats whose mothers ate junk went more towards junk food as compared to rats that ate rat feed during pregnancy.

Study co-author Beverly Muhlhausler, from the FOODplus research centre said, “These results will help us to better help women about diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding for giving their infants the best start in life.”
