March is known as the Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The Prostate Cancer Charity has organized an annual health awareness campaign, which is being backed by the Borders politicians MP Michael Moore and MSP John Lamont. The month is celebrating the awareness and the Prostate Cancer Charity Scotland is mobilizing people and urging them to declare themselves ‘I’m aware’.

Mr. Moore said: “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Scotland. 2,700 are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and 19,000 Scottish men are currently living with the disease. Two men die of prostate cancer every day”.  John Lamont also added: “I was delighted to sign The Pledge for Prostate Cancer during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month 2011”.

The authorities are trying their best to make people understand the causes and the most effective ways of diagnosing and treating prostate cancer. Also, they are hoping people of all age groups to come and join the campaign and serve the noble cause.

HSBC Seven World Series has organized a two-day international tournament, featuring sides from England, New Zealand and Australia. The tournament is planned over the weekend of 21 and 22 May. Also, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has pledged to donate £5 from every ticket sold to the above charity. Tickets cost £15.
