The co-chair of the international charitable organization ‘Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’ met the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad. The meeting was held on Tuesday.

Bill and Melinda Gates met the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister to discuss the health hazards India is facing. The pentavalent vaccine, polio vaccination efforts, HIV control and capacity building were the main topics of discussion.

Bill Gates did appreciate the efforts by the government to eradicate polio from the country. He also confirmed that his organization will help the country in every possible way. The main aim of the organization is to fight diseases like polio and HIV. They want to make sure that the medical facilities provided in the country are improved. They were happy that the number of polio cases in country has been reduced by 95%. There were only 42 cases of polio reported last year in the country.

The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister thanked Mr. Bill Gates for his efforts and contribution for the improvement of medical facilities. He had also confirmed that the organization has been extremely helpful in eradicating polio in the country.

The minister also requested him to provide the required support for the National AIDS Control Programme.
