President of future Abu Dhabi campus selected by NYU

Swarthmore College president Alfred H. BloomSwarthmore College president Alfred H. Bloom, who has long served as a college administrator, has now been appointed as the president of the future degree-granting Abu Dhabi campus in the United Arab Emirates, by the New York University.

It was informed by NYU that the Middle East campus, which aims at attracting students from all over the Arab and Muslim world, will be led by Bloom. Prior to this, Bloom served as a president for Swarthmore since 1991.

Bloom was quite hopeful that NYU will succeed in developing a “vibrant environment which guards academic freedom.”

By 2010, the arrival of first group of students is expected by the NYU officials.
