Doctors take a U-turn

NHSDuring a meeting that took place yesterday of the British Medical Association, a doctors’ union revolt was survived by Andrew Lansley that was over his NHS reforms.

There was an emergency meeting called by the association and it was about making attempts to scrap the Health Bill.

Just before a vote of no confidence in the Health Secretary was about to be passed, a U-turn was taken by delegates.

GP commission which is a key reform that the government is planning was also voted for amid protests outside.

If the Bill is passed then GPs will get about 80 per cent of the NHS budget.

The message that BMA was trying to give was rather called confusing by Health Minister Simon Burns.

He said, “Our policy of protecting the NHS budget and values remains clear.”

Though there was a U-turn by delegates on the vote of no confidence, it was however stated that Health Secretary Andrew Lansley should stop his plans to restructure the NHS and also criticized him for not being able to act on their demands that they kept.
