A well known newspaper of UAE reported on Tuesday that the banks have blocked international ATM transactions to better fight fraud transactions, and this will definitely be An inconvenience for those who are spending their holidays abroad, since they won’t get any access to cash.
The newspaper also informed that that due to the breaching of a network that is used by banks to share sensitive information such as PIN numbers, the fraud occurred. This has led to exploitation of many banks in UAE.
On Monday, Lloyds TSB announced withdrawals from UAE-issued cards at cash machines in several countries, including Britain and the United States, has been prohibited by them, while limits were maintained on local withdrawals.
Citibank had blocked cards that were at a great risk of being misused in addition to temporarily prohibiting the use of debit cards outside the UAE.
On Tuesday, banks in UAE were closed on account of Eid al-Fitr.
