Movie on BP oil spill

bp-oil-spillSummit Entertainment, Participant Media and Imagination Abu Dhabi will make a film on the BP oil spill that endangered aquatic life and nearby environment. The firm had acquired rights for the same based on articles about spill that figured in New York Times.

The articles titled "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hour" explains detail of oil spill and the explosive destruction of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig besides describing the role played by crew staff.

The 8,500-word essay written by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul was published in NY Times on December 25. The firm is also in touch with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura ("Salt" and "Transformers" fame) to produce the project under his Di Bonaventura Pictures banner.

Erik Feig, Summit president of production said, "This film will portray the great heroism that took place last year on the Deepwater Horizon rig and how colleagues so courageously came to each other's aide. This piece in The New York Times evoked the raw emotion these brave men experienced and endured throughout the tragedy that took place in April of last year."
