Troubled health trust clears safety inspection

Troubled health trust clears safety inspectionSafety inspection has been cleared by a troubled health trust.

In an attempt to save £50m about 1000 jobs that were announced by bosses of Pennine Acute Trust might have been lost and now a clean bill of health by independent regulators has been given to it.

It was stated by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission that the system was safe but did have initial apprehensions about patient keeping records and how the drugs were managed.

All standards of patient safety, essential standards and quality were met by the Royal Oldham, Rochdale Infirmary, North Manchester General and Fairfield General in Bury as found by the CQC.

Within 28 days, a plan about improvements in the suggested areas will have to be generated by trust bosses after improvements were suggested by inspectors.

Marian Carroll, director of nursing at Pennine, said, “We have made some real improvement in our quality of care over the last year. We are pleased and encouraged that the CQC has, during its review of our hospitals, found that the Trust meets the essential standards for quality and safety.”
