A study has proved that coffee is actually good for women when comes to stroke.
The study states that an increased risk of stroke is there among women who do not have coffee at all. You heard it right; it is ‘not drinking coffee’. Older women hold this very applicable on themselves.
About 34,000 women were assessed for the study and they were all aged from 49 years to 83 years and were from Sweden. The study began in 1997 and these women did not have any kind of heart problem when this happened. They all were made to fill up a food frequency questionnaire.
Decaffeinated coffee and the regular version were not differentiated between but people in Sweden do not prefer the decaffeinated version much.
Among the group, about 1,680 strokes happened over the 10-year study period.
It was seen that women who drank less coffee had 22 to 25 per cent more risk of stroke as compared to people who drank more than cup of coffee every day.
Lead researcher Susanna Larsson, of Sweden's Karolinska Institute said, “They shouldn't be afraid of coffee I would say. They shouldn't avoid it because they think it is unhealthy.”
