Gizmos sure are taking on the world. In a recent report, there has been a rare surgery conducted in a city hospital. The surgery was performed on D Vijaykanth, who is an auto driver and is 23 years of age.
It was Dr. R. Ravi Kumar who was the mastermind behind the risky surgery. He is the director of the institute of Cardiovascular disease. The surgery went on for 4 hours and the costs incurred in the same are somewhere around 2.2 lakh Rupees. The procedure that was done was for the removal of a eheart blockag.
The surgery was done by three robots and the doctor. "The best part about using a robot in cardiac surgery is that the patient's heart need not be opened and the surgery can be done using a small 4cm incision. This is not possible with normal surgeries without a robot", said Dr Ravi Kumar.
Such type of surgeries shall prove to be a milestone in the history of Indian Medicine and health care.
