According to the reports, this time the toughest medical job went for the first time to a female. Dame Sally Davies got the position of Chief Medical Officer, advising the Government on Public Health. She was appointed yesterday.
She was previously the interim Chief Medical Officer since Sir Liam Donaldson, who retired last May.
She is the first woman in England to hold this post. The position of the CMO is the most senior medical advisor. A CMO is a higher authority who takes the responsibility of providing the expert advice regarding the health care system in the country. A CMO is also responsible for handling the medical emergencies of the state.
"I look forward to working with everyone to improve the health of the nation", Davies said after being appointed this position.
According to the Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley Davies would play a vital role in developing the public health service programs. This is the department which always work hard to improve the public health. She will also provide the leadership for Directors of Public Health, and also for commissioning and improving the public health facilities, and services.
Her service would be dedicated for the well-being of the citizens of England.
