Scientists from the University of Colorado claim that acupressure may prove helpful for the people suffering from mild traumatic brain injury. The treatment was found to improve cognitive function among such people.
Ancient therapy of acupressure, Jin Shin acupressure was used by the researchers to conduct the study. The therapy focuses on the focuses on points located on meridians which run through the body. The therapy involves the use of Fingertips to stimulate specific points on the meridians. These points are said to be connected to the health of various organs and the body and brain as a whole. The researchers focused on the 26 points of the human body, ranging from the head to the feet during this treatment.
The acupressure therapy is believed to awaken the body's natural power of self-healing and enhance the cognitive function in people suffering from traumatic brain injury.
The researchers conducted a study in some individuals, half of those were exposed to placebo therapy and others received acupressure. The results have found that those participants who received acupressure treatments showed dramatic response to stimuli compared to those assigned to placebo therapy.
