Teen pregnancies reduce

Teen pregnancies reduceReports have stated that since 1980s there has been a significant decrease in the number of teenage pregnancies in the number of such pregnancies today.

As compared to the numbers of teenage pregnancies in 2008, there has been a six per cent decrease in the number of teen pregnancies that took place in 2009.

In 2009, the rate of pregnancies per 100 women in girls below 18 reduced to 38.3.

Children's Minister, Sarah Teather expressed satisfaction on this and stated that it was still a long way to go and said, “Teenage parents and their children are more likely to suffer from poor health, unemployment and poor achievement at school than their peers. There remains a huge variation in the progress that has been made in reducing teenage pregnancy rates across the country.”

At places where authorities were struggling to bring down such cases, there were places where such cases declined by 45 per cent. For controlling these pregnancies, local areas had to work in close coordination and try and reach the target together by sharing measures and responsibilities to get results.
