The fourth annual Relay for Life event organized by the Relay Committee, has reached its target by raising fund of $140,000 which will go the American Cancer Society that dedicatedly works to support cancer patients and their families.

According to Katie Kearsey, one of the Relay Committee members, it has been four years now the organization is arranging funds for cancer patients. In the year 2008 they fist took the initiative of hosting Relay for life event. This year’s target was to raise $140,000 which is complete and since 2008, the organization has contributed total amount of $430,000 to the American Cancer Society, by arranging relay events.

According to another Relay committee member Danielle Rosato, cancer has affected almost every body’s life as it is not an uncommon disease. Unfortunately, in spite of all efforts it is increasing and taking precious lives away.

She further stated that she became aware about cancer when she was in seventh standard and her friend was diagnosed with the disease. That time she had no idea that this is a fatal disease.

There were a lot number of participants who came to be part of this Relay for Life event just because they always remember their near and dear ones who died of cancer. This is a way to pay homage to their departed soul.
