A series of contradicting reports have resulted in a lot of confusion regarding red meat among the masses. The last report stated that Britons will have to cut down on their consumption of red meat if they’d want to reduce their chances of developing cancer.
According to the latest recommendations, people have been advised not to eat more than half a kilo of red meat on a weekly basis. The current suggestions mean that people can only eat three rashers of bacon in a day.
A lot of British homes will be left in a state of dilemma, especially after the latest recommendation that have been released by the Department of Health.
It needs to be remembered that it was only last week that the British Nutrition Foundation had announced that Britons on an average consumed healthy amounts of red meat. Meanwhile, it had gone ahead to state that the link between cancer development and red meat was inconclusive.
However, in complete contradiction to the report by the British Nutrition Foundation, guidelines issued by the Department of Health have stated that adults should not consume red meat in excess of 70gms in a day.
Another alarm bell has been sounded as it needs to be remembered that red meat is linked to high cholesterol, cardiac diseases, type II diabetes, high blood pressure and various types of cancers like lung, breast and prostate.
