For bringing down the risk of cancer, people have been advised to go slow on consumption of red meat and processed meat.
For bringing down the risk of bowel cancer, a report will be issued to people by government advisers stating that every week red meat should not be consumed more than 500g and daily consumption must not exceed 70g.
This means that one must not eat more than three ¬rashers of bacon daily and weekly consumption should be limited to about one large steak or pork chop, or a packet of beef mince.
But seeing the present consumption, reports state that 96g of red meat in the form of beef, burgers, pork, lamb, bacon and sausages is taken by men and women take 57g of red meat everyday.
Independent advisers on the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition state that this consumption can lead to an array of problems like diabetes, bowel cancer and heart problems.
The experts however have added that the above conclusions are open to doubt.
They further added that people can take it this way that if they consumed less red and processed meat then their risk of bowel cancer can go down for sure.
