The sector watchdog has made a report that has stated that elder people were maltreated by nurses and doctors when it came to food, did not wash them up properly and there were cases of when they died, their loved ones were not allowed to be with them.
There were about 10 complaints about GP surgeries and the NHS that were upheld by the Health Service Ombudsman. The report states that a very inhuman attitude was seen that was expressed by the two and there were failures seen in care.
All those who lodged complaints said that the medics had neglected their loved ones or them or discharged them inappropriately and put them on wrong medication.
But in the report it was not seen that trusts for doing so getting identified, staff getting warned, demoted or sacked for their behavior. It was just stated that retraining was given in to those who were found at fault.
There was a case in which an 82 year-old woman’s husband kept waiting in a waiting room and the staff completely forgot about him and the woman in Ealing Hospital dies alone.
The trust said “we are sorry that we did not do everything possible to help her husband at this difficult time.”
