It is reason to stop and think for the severely obese women. According to a new study, those women who are extremely obese need to keep control over their body weight while they bear a child.
In extreme contrast, those women who were not obese and had little weight gain in the second and the third trimester of pregnancy, had outcomes like delivering a tiny child, a child weighing lesser than it ought to.
"The study suggests that even the recommended amounts of weight gain might be more than is needed for the most obese women," said Eva Pressman of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University Of Rochester Medical Center.
In the year 2009, there was a new release of guidelines by the Institute of Medicine. This was regarding the prescribed weight a pregnant woman should have.
This was according to the changes in population and the changing conditions of living.
There was also a review done on the number of obese women who gained even more weight while they were pregnant. Too much weight of the mother can obviously be harmful for the child and is a thing to be kept check of.
