There was a comparison between fruit juices, dark chocolate and hot chocolate mix and these were per serving.
It was all over again shown by the research that as compared to fruit, more antioxidants were contained in cocoa and dark chocolate.
But because of processing, hot chocolate contained few healthy ingredients.
Cancer and heart diseases are combated by antioxidants that contain flavanols that helps in neutralizing molecules that are destructive and are termed free radicals.
At the Hershey Centre for Health & Nutrition, in Pennsylvania, US, the research was conducted by scientists.
Lead author Dr Debra Millar and colleagues stated, "Natural cocoa powder and dark chocolate have significantly greater TF or total flavanol values than the other fruit powders and juices tested, respectively."
Products that are extracted from cacao seed extracts are great foods and cacao seeds should be considered a 'super fruit'.
