UAE and Gates Foundation unite for jab proposal

Bill-Melinda-Gates-FoundationThere has been a new partnership between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

By this new contract, millions of children in Afghanistan and Pakistan will be immunized aligned with deadly diseases.

The total contribution is US$100 million (Dh367m) fund; each partner has contributed $50m. Out of total fund about a one-third will go to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef). This will help to convey polio vaccines in the two countries. In these countries the polio is very widespread than all over the world.

The rest contribution will be given for the immunisations against diseases like pneumonia, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type B, which causes meningitis.

A high percentage of the children in Afghanistan do not live more than five years. This is because of poor healthcare services and low vaccination levels in the country. However, this venture is expected to remove all misery of people living here.
