Emirates Steel Industries PJSC, the state-owned steel company having a plant in Abu Dhabi has said that they have seen their production going up by 17.5 per cent. The sales went up by a whopping 120 per cent in 2010 when compared to the previous period.
It was the production of rebar steel that aw highest rise of 7.5 per cent. Out of it more than 80 per cent was sold within the country itself and the remaining part was exported outside the Persian Gulf region. This kind of steel is used in the production of rebar and wire rod and is used in completion of plants.
Meanwhile, to meet the growing demand, the company has decided that it will be setting up two new units that would become operational in the Q1 of 2011 itself.
The current production capacity of the plant is 2 million tons of metal every year and it wants to raise it up to 6 million tons by 2013.
Talking about the same, Majed Taifour, a company spokesman said that the capacity is going to be raised to 3 million tons within few months and as soon as that happens phase II will be over.
