CNG vehicles can be a great fuel-saver

adnoc-cng-stationIn order to increase better use of fuel and reduce pollution, the Abu Dhabi government has decided that it will be converting its own vehicles and some of the taxis of region into compressed natural gas (CNG) driven. And the deadline it has set for it is next year.

They expect that after CNG is used, the cost of fuel goes down by 50 per cent.

The news which appeared in the Khaljee Times also revealed that Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is going to be the firm that will be involved in the installing of CNG gas stations. As first part of the plan, some 500 vehicles are going to be put under the CNG use rule which will be later on increased to a higher limit.

The stations, on the other hand, are going to be put across emirates and parts of Northern emirates. Once the whole thing is set up, each kg of CNG is going to cost AED1.28 or about US$0.35 which is half the rate of 1 litre of petrol in UAE.

Moreover, to make the transformation easier, conversion workshops are also being installed.
