After in just one month more than 11,000 breaches were seen, for breaking rules on mixed-sex accommodation, hospitals will be fined £250 per patient per day. The government stated that the lowest number of breaches was seen in Yorkshire.
In December alone according to data, about 11,362 people were put in mixed-sex accommodation and now Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has stated that anyone seen violating the rules will have to pay a fine.
Health organizations across England are related to these findings and an estimate of about 1.4 million courses of completed treatment has been made.
According to Lansley, it was not acceptable to see that people were being put in mixed-sex accommodation and the previous government had made an attempt of not making the data public. On the other hand, Conservatives were accused of not living up to their promise of making 45,000 new single rooms for the NHS.
Lansley said, "Labour ministers said mixed-sex accommodation was eliminated but they never published the information to prove it. For the first time, we have released that information. It exposes the scale of the problem, which is far worse than we were led to believe."
