The double chin may soon become a thing of past following announcement from a German firm that unwanted fat deposits will be fought with a drug for which a trial is being launched.
The drug called ATX-101 will be given to people through a series of 40 to 70 mini injections for alleviating the curse of millions of middle-aged people around the world.
Small quantities of fat cells will be dissolved by it and very little or no anesthetic will be needed for it, Bayer said.
Results will be visible after 16 weeks, Yvonne Moeller, spokeswoman for Bayer, while describing the procedure something like a tattoo, said.
If this trial is successful then there will be no double chins at all.
Company informed that the drug called ATX-101 made by Bayer reduces localized fat and reduces double chin. On more than 700 people, the company is testing the drug presently in Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Italy.
Jean-Paul Ortonne, a French dermatologist involved in the trials said, "There is a huge demand for a safe, effective and approved injectable treatment for localized fat reduction."
