A new study has stated that one can have a good heart and a leaner waistline by moving around rather than sitting at one place.
Various indicators of risk for heart disease, metabolic disorders like inflammatory processes and diabetes were linked to the total amount of time spent sitting down and breaks in sedentary time.
People who had prolonged periods of sedentary time despite doing moderate to vigorous exercise also experienced cardio-metabolic function and inflammation, cholesterol and blood fats.
And people who spent less time sitting had leaner waistlines and their C-reactive protein levels were also low.
Dr Genevieve Healy at The University of Queensland, Australia said, "For the number of breaks in sedentary time, the most significant differences were observed for waist circumference. The top 25per cent of people who took the most breaks had, on average, a 4.1cm smaller waist circumference than those in the lowest 25per cent."
It was further added that the positive aspects of high-intensity exercise and work out was accepted widely by people and it was always better to keep working out and moving here and there.
