According to two new studies that were aimed at asking students to rate pleasant activities they liked the most, self-esteem outplayed everything from sex, favorite foods, alcohol, and a visit with a best friend and a paycheck.
Brad Bushman, lead study researcher and a professor of communication and psychology at The Ohio State University, said, "These are college students, look at this list of activities."
Bushman said that eating good food, sex, going around places is all enjoyed by college students and despite this they enjoy self-esteem.
But gender demarcation of the two studies stated that nothing was trumped by self-esteem at all. Other activities were preferred by male students but when it came to women were seen liking self-esteem than any other thing or activity like a good grade or a compliment and the self-esteem they got was seen neck-and-neck with money and friends.
The researchers said that it was healthy to see that the participants liked all the activities more than they wanted. But when it came to self-esteem building experiences, the difference between liking and wanting was the smallest.
